About Me-Training Philosophy
Getting in shape shouldn’t be a punishment. It’s an amazing and empowering lifestyle decision that anyone can achieve. However, there is usually some hard work that must be done in order to create change. I believe in finding the pleasurable side of fitness. As your fitness trainer we will progress your workouts within the parameters of your body's current abilities to minimize or eliminate post workout soreness, and make injury a non-issue. During your workouts we focus on mentally identifying the muscles and joints that are supposed to be doing the "work" enabling us to reduce the amount of weight and the speed of motion yet maximizing the outcome. Positive attitude plays a large role in fitness success and I strive to help you celebrate even small gains and accomplishments, and laugh a bit along the way.

Resistance Training
Resistance training, ie lifting weights, for most people, isn't about getting ready for a body building competition. It's about maintaining and replacing muscle mass that is naturally lost as we age. This loss of muscle is a large contributor to age related weight gain. Strengthening muscle helps to maintain independence in being able to perform various tasks such as getting that flat of water out of the trunk or moving that bag of gardening soil. Our muscles are what produce movement and stabilize our joints. Individuals that maintain muscular strength also recover and rehab faster from surgeries.
If you want to be able to hike to that beautiful waterfall, play with your children and grandchildren, repaint the bedroom, or just get out of the chair easily, maintaining your muscular strength is essential.

What is Integrated Training? It's combining several fitness disciplines to address all aspects of whole body wellness. You can't lose and maintain weight by dieting alone, or just by doing "cardio". Our bodies are complex machines with all parts designed to work together. While the majority of your training session will be focused on resistance training, we will address such things as how much movement are you getting during the day (cardio)? and what's your food and nutrition intake (diet)? Emotions play a huge role in our physical wellness so we will talk about ways to reduce stress and add fun and pleasure into your workouts and your life. I hope to be able to encourage you to set some goals that may seem slightly out of reach and then help you to reach and exceed those goals.
By incorporating Integrated Training you can achieve a more well rounded level of fitness in a shorter amount of time and reduce the boredom of workouts. Feeling better and looking better is empowering and a boost to self confidence. By being the best you to yourself, you are then able to be the best you to others.

This initial session will allow you to see our facility and discuss your goals and possible limitations. We will go through a short workout and then determine if we have a workable partnership.
